PPC Cement
Pretoria Portland Cement Company Limited (PPC) was established in 1892 as De Eerste Cement Fabrieken Beperkt. PPC Cement is the market leader in South Africa , with a product range that encompasses all applications and a technical services team that is on hand to provide industry solutions.
The history of the company is closely linked to the growth and development of South Africa. PPC has produced cement for many of the country’s most famous landmarks and construction projects. These include the Union Buildings, the Gariep Dam, Van Stadens River Bridge, the Huguenot Tunnel and much of the rest of Southern Africa’s infrastructure.
The company’s cementitious brands include the market-leading “Surebuild” brand in South Africa, “Botcem” in Botswana and “Unicem” in Zimbabwe.
PPC today produces 8 million tons a year through its 6 factories and 5 milling depots. Adroit is used in 3 of the biggest factories and in 3 milling depots.
PPC Slurry: PPC Slurry is situated near Mafikeng in the North West province in South Africa. In 1916 PPC Slurry produced its first cement. PPC Slurry have 4 process lines for producing clinker. Adroit have developed in conjunction with Slurry an driver to interface directly into the packer pack line system.
PPC de Hoek: PPC De Hoek started producing cement in 1916. This factory is situated in the Western Cape of South Africa, 150 km from Cape Town. The cement factory consist of two, 5 phase production lines. This cement factory was one of Adroit first customers and has since become one of the most impressive and detailed SCADA systems in South Africa.
PPC Riebeeck West: PPC Riebeeck West is also situated in the Western Cape, 70 km from Cape Town. This factory is planned to be upgraded in the next 4 years to produce 30% more cement to the Western Cape.
PPC Milling Deports
PPC Botswana: PPC Botswana supplies Botswana, Namibia and neighboring countries with cement. The raw material is transported from Mafikeng by train where it is packaged in Botswana.
PPC Port Elizabeth: PPC Port Elizabeth supplies the East cost of South Africa and also international cement sales in Asia.
PPC Montaque Gardens: PPC Montaque Gardens is the cement depot in Cape Town. The cement manufactured at Riebeeck and De Hoek are transported to this sales depot for packaging.
AfriSam
AfriSam’s high quality cement has made a significant contribution to various infrastructural developments in the southern African community for over three quarters of a century. From their factories at Ulco in the Northern Cape and Dudfield in North West Province, AfriSam cement is shipped to grinding and blending plants as well as depots across southern Africa. They produce approximately 4 million tons of cement per annum.
Lafarge Quarries
Lafarge offers a wide range of durable, versatile aggregates from our sites across the country. Aggregates can be used in a wide variety of applications including concrete and asphalt production, sub-base, capping and drainage systems as well as for decorative purposes. MAPS can be found on 11 of Lafarge quarries in South Africa.
